Terms of Service

By creating an account or using The Readers Collective, you agree to these Terms of Service and confirm you have read our Privacy Policy.
Who Can Use the Service
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you live in a country that sets a higher age for consenting to online services (up to 16 in some EU countries), you must be that age or have a parent's or guardian's permission. We will delete accounts we learn belong to children under 13.
Your Account
You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. Provide accurate account information and do not create accounts for another person without their permission.
Acceptable Use
Use the service respectfully and lawfully. Do not post unlawful, abusive, threatening, harassing, deceptive, or infringing content. Do not attempt to access another account, interfere with the service, or use automated means to abuse the platform.
Your Content
You retain ownership of the content you add, including book notes, reviews, profile content, and messages. You grant us permission to store, process, and display that content only as needed to operate the service and the sharing settings you choose.
Community Features
Friends, book clubs, recommendations, profiles, and messages are provided to support reading communities. You are responsible for content you share with other readers. We may remove content or restrict access that violates these terms or threatens the safety of the community.
Reporting Content and Complaints
You can report a message, discussion post, or member using the report option in the app, and block anyone you don't want to hear from. Club owners review reports for their clubs, and we review reports and act on illegal or harmful content, including by removing it and suspending accounts. You can also report content, raise a complaint about how we handled a report, or appeal a decision to remove your content or restrict your account by emailing support@thereaderscollective.com. We will look into every complaint and tell you the outcome.
Third-Party Services
Optional Google and Apple sign-in, book information from ISBNdb, series information from Hardcover, and email delivery through Resend are subject to those providers' terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or the accuracy, availability, or completeness of book-catalog information.
Data Sources
Book and series information, including titles, authors, series details, and cover images, comes from ISBNdb and Hardcover. Book covers and other catalog content belong to their respective publishers, authors, and rights holders.
Copyright and Takedown Requests
If you believe content on The Readers Collective, including a user-submitted image or a book cover, infringes your copyright, email support@thereaderscollective.com with a description of the work, where it appears on the service, and your contact details. We will review the request and remove infringing content promptly. We may terminate accounts of repeat infringers.
Service Availability
The service is provided as available. Features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time through Profile Settings. We may suspend or terminate access when these terms are violated or when necessary to protect the service or its users.

Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms when the service changes. Updated terms will be posted here with a revised last-updated date. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the updated terms.
